The Story of the Etno Histeria World Orchestra

Since 2003 (with the exception of 2010 and 2014), a unique international ensemble has formed every summer, bringing together musicians from across the globe.
In less than a week, they create a concert program lasting over two hours through a distinctive process of musical, cultural, and personal exchange — entirely by ear, without sheet music.

The musicians teach each other, with a new team of exceptional mentors guiding the process each year.

The repertoire is based on original compositions brought by participants, as well as local traditional tunes from around the world. These melodies are collectively reworked, harmonized, and transformed into complex, original arrangements.
Each year, a brand-new program emerges, often joined by guest musicians along the way.

Etno Histeria World Orchestra is more than an artistic project — it is also a socially engaged movement.
In addition to public concerts, the orchestra actively engages with local communities, stages artistic interventions, often collaborates with NGOs, and raises awareness about pressing social issues.

This year’s tour includes a concert in solidarity with Gaza and interventions in social centers in Ljubljana and Celje.

After an intense week of creation, the orchestra embarks on a tour filled with spontaneity, improvisation, and communication — making every performance a unique experience for both musicians and audiences.
It becomes a true musical stew of global sounds, enriched with personal expression and original artistry.

The Etno Histeria World Orchestra is a space for connection, artistic growth, and long-term collaboration.
It opens new paths, transcends language, genre, and geographic boundaries, and fosters listening, collective creation, and critical reflection on the world we live in.
