Katja Šulc is a singer, songwriter and musician from Slovenia. Interweaving poetry, contemporary folk and traditional heritage, she is embracing threatened cultures, disappearing languages and forgotten poems. After studying music at the New School in New York, Katja released five studio albums and presented her music at concert venues throughout the world (France, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Morocco, China, Nepal, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia, Brazil). Her latest album is inspired by indigenous cultures of North America. Created at The Institute of American Arts (IAIA) in New Mexico, WEST WIND BLOW FROM YOUR PRAIRIE NEST (ŠKUC, 2024) sets to music original poems written by renowned Native poets, featuring contemporary Native artists. The album reached the acclaimed international chart WMCE Top 20 and received a nomination for Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
