August is a young boy, the son of a poor young widow who lost her husband in an accident before the child was born. The mother places all her dreams and hopes into her little boy, and there is no wish in the world she does not hold for him. She asks an eccentric old neighbor to be the boy’s godfather. As a christening gift, he offers to grant the boy one wish. The mother, overwhelmed and confused by the unusual offer and skeptical of the old man’s promise, cannot decide on any of her secret desires. Yet, at the very last moment, she wishes that everyone in the world would love her son.
The wish comes true, but over time it turns into a curse that nearly leads to August’s death…
The need to be liked, recognized, and admired by others lies within all of us. But August’s story reveals the true source of love—not in external validation, but in our own ability to love others, even when they hurt us. It shows us that beneath the surface of our prejudices, fears, and doubts, lies another way of seeing the world: that in every person, we can recognize the eternal beauty and miracle of life.

Avgust je fantek, sin mlade revne vdove, ki je moža izgubila v nesreči še pred otrokovim rojstvom. Mati v svojega sinka polaga vse sanje in upanje in na tem svetu ni želje, ki je ne bi imela zanj. Soseda, malce čudaškega starčka prosi, da bi mu bil boter. Ta za krstno darilo ponudi, da za sina izpolni eno željo. Mati se ne more odločiti za nobeno od svojih skritih želja, nenavadno darilo jo zmede in sosedu seveda ne verjame, vendarle si v zadnjem trenutku zaželi, da bi njenega sina morali vsi ljudje ljubiti. Želja se uresniči, a se tekom časa sprevrže v prekletstvo, ki Avgusta skoraj pahne v smrt ...
Potreba po tem, da bi nas imeli ljudje radi, da bi nas priznali in občudovali, se skriva v vseh nas. Zgodba o Avgustu pa nam skuša prikazati resnični vir ljubezni, ki ni v zunanji potrditvi, temveč v naši lastni sposobnosti ljubiti druge, četudi nas prizadenejo. Pokaže nam, da se pod skorjo naših predsodkov, strahu ali zadržkov skriva nek drug pogled na svet: da lahko v sočloveku vidimo večno lepoto in čudež življenja.
