ALICIA OCADIZ

A Mexican Woman Watches The Marriage Of The Japanese Foxes

Alicia Paulina Ocadiz Arriaga (the rest of the casting is still to be confirmed)

Immaginary Mexican Rituals

This piece is an attempt to make my own version of the “Fox Marriage” scene from Akira Kurosawa's movie Dreams. This scene shows us Kurosawa's version of the Japanese term “Kitsune no Yomeiri” which can refer to several things: atmospheric ghost lights or various strange wedding processions that can be seen in classical Japanese kaidan, essays, and legends. The kitsune no yomeiri is always closely related to foxes, or kitsune, who often play tricks on humans in Japanese legends.
