About the fesTival

Between July 27th and 30th, 292 events will be held on 17 visually altered stages surrounding Snežnik Castle. This year's edition is based on a selection of folk-fusion, experimental, jazz, electronic, and original music, as well as circus shows, performances, improvised theatre, theatre shows, and workshops for adults. There will be a curated program for children and families full of diverse creative workshops running from morning until evening.
Specification, for which the festival attracts more and more visitors as well as performers, is its spatial placement of stages in the natural environment and its visual processing. The concerts are held at a freshwater spring, in a forest amphitheatre, underneath the canopy of an oak tree, on the fire engine, in front of medieval castle walls, in the dome, on a garage roof, in the castle hall, in a dormouse museum, on a floating stage and everywhere in between. The labyrinth of stages with numerous visual and performative surprises creates  a feeling of entering an enormous all-encompassing stage and invites the audience to become a part of the show …

THEME 2023 Each of the 17 stages carries its own theme, scenographic and program concept. This year's theme is ''Polhn Grad'' (literally meaning – full castle with a whimsical dormouse pun), which refers to a widespread local custom of Polhanje (dormice hunting) both socially and culturally. Additionally, it critically touches upon the ongoing issues regarding the use (or lack thereof) of the castle and its estate.

The spectator will find him/herself in the dormouseatorium, fall into a time capsule of the dormouseofuture, take a rest in the dormouse nest, listen to the hunting tales in the tavern, observe the landscape from the doormouseattic, climb up from hell and lay down his/hers burden on the dormouse path to the chapel …

TEMPORARY ACADEMY FLOATING CASTLE Twelve  intense performative and musical masterclasses will take place side-by-side in advance of the festival. The masterclasses  will connect with the scenographic and the thematic concept of the festival. A final production will be showcased at the festival. Simultaneously, the 70-member Etno Histeria World Orchestra will rehearse on site before it shall venture a on tour of Slovenia, Croatia and Italy on the 21st of July.
